Starting out in business can be daunting, no matter who you are or what business you’re in. There are a myriad of things to consider, not the least of which is your business premises.
Here are some key feng-shui tips to help your business attract greater sales...
1. Location
Paramount when considering your premises is location of course. Different types of businesses will succeed in different environments. For example, a restaurant will do well amongst other restaurants, cafes and social venues, but will struggle when placed near a medical centre or industrial area. Needless to say not many businesses will do well next to an unemployment office, unless of course it’s an employment agency! Like-minded businesses feed of each others energy and this in turn attracts the customers looking for that ‘vibe’.
2. Fit-out
Once you have found the most prosperous location for your business, you have to think about the fit out. From a Feng Shui perspective, it’s important to arrange your fittings and fixtures and signage to attract business traffic your way. Traffic is one thing but making sales is another. Did you know that the location of your counter in a retail outlet can greatly impact your sales? Not only that, but colours, lighting and placement of displays and shelving also influence, not only how long a customer will browse, but also how much they will spend.
3. Corporate feng-shui flow
In a corporate environment, Feng Shui can also be of assistance. The distribution of staff within an office will dictate the harmony within and its productivity. For example, the manager of a firm should have the office furthest from the entrance. This puts them in a position of authority and respect and keeps the employees and business running to their specifications. If another employee occupies this position, managers could find their authority challenged.
4. Color is another important aspect of Feng Shui design.
It creates an immediate and lasting impression and different colours suit the energies of different types of businesses. The correct colour choices will support your business and brand it correctly in the market place.
Colors also trigger an emotional response within people, so a counsellor, for example, may use colour to help clients to feel comfortable and nurtured; a hairdresser, to stimulate confidence and happiness. All of these extra considerations may seem overwhelming and perhaps superfluous at first, but remember it’s often the little things that make the difference between your business’s success or struggle.
If you get the details right from the start, you’ll give your new business the best possible chance in today’s competitive environment; and remember there are professional consultants you can engage to help you along the way in most aspects of business including Feng Shui.
