It's a fact. Every single thing you achieve in life (the good, the bad and the ugly) are a result of the thoughts that run through your mind.
On one level that’s massively exciting because that means whatever you dream of achieving you really can achieve.
On another level, it can be a little terrifying when you consider that little inner voice inside your head, that always seems to put a wet blanket on your plans - saying things like:
"I’m not good enough."
"I don’t know what to do."
"I don’t understand.
"I can’t do that."
"I’ll fail."
"I’ll lose."
"But what if this happens."
"But what if that happens."
Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah!!
Sound familiar?
The good news is that there are all sorts of things you can do to silence that mind chatter. The most effective concentration method is through meditation.
1. The more you meditate, the quieter your mind will become. Your emotions will become calmer and your outlook becomes more positive. Your mind becomes very focused on what you want to achieve.
2. "Friction breathing" - this is a special breathing technique that creates friction in your throat and at the same time activates your third eye. Listening to and concentrating on the sound of your breathing (it sounds a little like Darth Vadar) helps concentrate your focus and therefore quieten your mind.
3. Peripheral vision - somehow the act of making your eyes go peripheral helps you disassociate from your thoughts and become really present in the moment. Go ahead, try it and see how you go.
4. When you feel a thought entering your mind, consciously "let it go".
There are numerous other techniques for letting go of thoughts and we'll be addressing them in future editions.
